A community foundation had to show institutional credibility while making it easy to give to any of its several distinct funds. We built a custom WordPress theme where non-technical staff publish programme and grant content, plus a donation form for each fund.

The challenge

A community foundation’s website has two jobs: show institutional credibility and make giving easy.

This foundation manages several distinct funds, each needing its own donation pathway. Recurring giving matters most for long-term donor relationships, and non-technical staff publish complex programme and grant information.

What we did

Built a custom WordPress theme from scratch to the foundation’s brand and accessibility standards.
Created structured content types with ACF for programmes, funds, grants and leadership.
Used a page builder inside the theme for campaign pages that need layout freedom.
Set up GiveWP donation forms per fund, with monthly and annual recurring giving and PayPal processing.
Hosted on AWS behind Cloudflare.

Key decisions

A custom theme. Full control over brand and accessibility, instead of fighting an off-the-shelf theme.
Structure where it matters. Structured fields for programme and fund data; layout freedom only on campaign pages.
Proven donation tooling. GiveWP handles recurring giving and payments reliably, so engineering went into forms and donor experience.

What this delivered

Non-technical staff publish programme, fund and grant information without engineering help, on a custom theme built to the foundation’s brand and accessibility standards. Donors can give to a specific fund, monthly or annually.
